What to Expect on Our Courses
The majority of our training takes place in Fowey, Cornwall, with the vessel moving to Plymouth for the “deep” phases of the courses.
With our own pontoons and exclusive access to our own designated diving area, we fully utilise the true “open water” diving environment. We are able to train you in real live conditions – tides, currents, poor visibility, muddy bottoms, etc – the true real-life situations you will face as a professional commercial diver.
Candidates will be accommodated ashore in shared self catering accommodation, living, eating and training together, as a team. The evenings can be spent at leisure or studying, utilising your knowledge to the maximum.
All of this is included within the course price.
Your course will be challenging, both mentally and physically.
Sometimes you’ll not be able to see your hand in front of your face. You may be uncomfortable. You’ll possibly be struggling in the tide, trying to complete a task that seems unachievable, don’t worry, our aim is to build your confidence…not break you!
At CDT we’ll teach you to overcome your difficulties and achieve your potential, in a wide variety of environments, in an even wider variety of equipment configurations. We’ll give you the “tools” to get the job done safely and efficiently.
Candidates must be prepared to undertake “home work”, writing up reports, preparing project plans, risk assessments etc, as well as theoretical revision in preparation for the formal exams that take place towards the end of each individual course, don’t worry if you need help with the theory, the instructional team are here to help you, revision plays a big part after hours.
Practical assessments are conducted throughout the courses with students receiving daily appraisals so they can accurately gauge their own progress . There will also be a formal interview with the Course Instructor regularly, to identify areas of strength and opportunities for improvement within an individual’s performance.
CDT’s reputation is based upon the quality of our programmes, our facilities and our Instructors and Assessors.
